Fitness for All: Fit Your Ability's Journey in Disability Fitness, and Fitness Enhancement's Success as Fitness Franchise Group of the Year
Since 1999, we’ve been dedicated to helping people who can’t or won’t attend the gym achieve their goals through our family-owned parent company, Fitness Enhancement. Doubling down on this passion four years ago with NDIS registration and the subsequent launch of Fit Your Ability has led us to win “Franchise Group of the Year” award at the fitness industry awards.
A Journey Rooted in Inclusivity
Our story begins with a young entrepreneur named Scott Hunt, who founded Fitness Enhancement Personal Training at the age of 19. With just $400 and a passion for helping others, Scott’s vision was clear: fitness should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. This commitment has been the driving force behind our success for over two decades.
Four years ago, we took a significant step forward in realising our vision by registering under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This marked the beginning of Fit Your Ability, our dedicated division for disability fitness. It wasn’t just a business move; it was a profound commitment to accessibility and empowerment.
At Fit Your Ability, we understand that every individual has unique abilities, challenges, and goals. Our approach is holistic, personalised, and sensitive to the needs of each person we work with. We believe that fitness is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor, and our NDIS registered Personal Trainers are experts in tailoring fitness programs to suit your abilities and goals.
Celebrating Our Milestone: Fitness Franchise Group of the Year
Fitness Enhancement, in receiving the Fitness Franchise Group of the Year award, is a testament to our commitment to our mission. We’re immensely proud of this recognition, not just for what it means to us but for what it represents for the disability fitness community. This award is a symbol of hope, inclusivity, and a brighter future where everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, can enjoy the benefits of fitness.
Despite its growth in size, Fitness Enhancement and Fit Your Ability remain family-owned businesses, with Scott at the helm in Nerang. Their franchisees are all small, family-owned enterprises, preserving the family-owned feel even as they scale and grow—a quality that sets them apart from larger franchise brands that often lose their personal touch as they expand. The Nerang studio on the Gold Coast remains true to its roots, with many long-time clients training for more than 10 years, including Scott’s own mother and mother-in-law, who are seniors in their 70s and have been training there for over two decades.
Our vision for the future
As we continue our journey, we envision a world where disability fitness isn’t just a niche but an integral part of the fitness industry. We hope to inspire other fitness organisations to embrace inclusivity and break down the barriers that have kept many individuals from pursuing their fitness goals.
Our commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities remains steadfast. We will keep pushing the boundaries, exploring innovative approaches to fitness, and ensuring that Fit Your Ability becomes a place of hope and progress for those who have been underserved for far too long.
